competition brief!

Im now at the end of the first week of the new brief and as said I made my decision on monday. I was torn between doing the 'e4', 'mini' and 'the body shop' brief, so I explored each one a little bit further, then looked at what the rest of the class was doing and picked the one hardly anyone had picked which was 'the body shop'.

All systems go at this point! I started by re-reading the brief to get a better understanding of what was requested. The brief stated to create an unconventional advertising campaign, with a maverick, cheeky and original tone of voice to reinstate the body shops pioneering with ethical beauty.

I am going to approach this with a great deal of research, this is because it will help me understand the company fully and what they want, and also research is an area I stated needed improving in my unit 7 reflective statement. Firstly I will be looking into the background of the company and its founders, then into the advertising history and competitors, this will then be followed by unconventional and guerilla advertising research, in order to get a better understanding of whats expected.

One of the primary sources of research organised, was interview the managers of the body shop and their main competitors lush, both of which were very helpful toward my research.

During the next week I will be getting my sketchbook up to date with my research and idea generating and developing.

The new brief!

I've finally handed in room 101 animation in on friday, and emailed unit 8 essay to the tutor on thursday, so new week, new project! Im going to be reading through the competition briefs over the weekend, making a decision on monday and starting the research and idea development from there. I've had a quick read through and the 'D&AD' brief seem to be the most appealing.

Reviews are another thing I need to be getting through!

I am also going to try n upload my animation to the blog, if i can work out how to do it :)

the end of the week!

My Room 101 animation is not far from being finished, I checked it through with the tutor and he's give me a few ways to improve. This I have done but i had a few problems with importing to a different programme, there was a couple of glitches, so I'm going to tidy up everything but, ready for some help in finishing and handing my animation with the tutor on monday.

Over the weekend I'm going to be finishing essays and smoothing over rough edges, all ready to start the new "competition brief" on Monday. wish me luck!! x

Few days work!

I've been stressing over the last few days because its deadline time! I've had to take advantage of my dyslexia extension.. but suppose thats what its there for! Managed to get my 101 animation done last night so i just need to finish the sketch book, ready to hand in on thursday... more panic for a couple of days!On the other side I've got a 750 word essay to be in last tuesday, which again I've had to extend till next tuesday, so need to get on that!

Other than that I have no time so nothing else to document!!! I am however going to add a couple of screen shots from my animation, hope you like them! xx

Presentation day!!!

I didn't post anything yesterday, because i didn't have any time at all! Was working on my animation all day and then my powerpoint presentation all night, ready to deliver this morning.

Presentation went quite well.. made few mistakes and there was a couple of technical problems but nothing to big for dave the technician!! Go Dave!! I think everyone liked it anyway!

Bin working on my animation again today and was going to do some sketchbook work after posting this but my minds turned to mush soo.... thats me for the night!!

relaxing sunday??

Nope... no relaxing sundays for me!

My 5min presentation has bin my priority for the day.. I have managed to complete the first draft, which i can now structure my powerpoint with.

I am now going to spend the next hour or so working with my 'Room 101' animation.. (the bee thing) ...oh well off to work!!

first entry 2nd year

Sooo, where to start?? I always seems to have a problem with time management so its no shock to me that Im behind.. (doesn't stop me being disappointed with myself though!)

After having to redirect my ideas last week, i have now come up with an animation storyboard - Im not overly impressed by the idea of it but i think it could look quite effective with attention to detail.

I spent all off yesterday on FLASH working out how to get my bee (below) travelling along the page.. painfully repetitive!!

I plan on spending today refining my presentation on 'love creative' (manchester based advertising company) ready to deliver to the class on Tuesday.

Wish me Luck... I need it! :)

Can i just add, the bee was done on a graphics tablet... which i've never used before!!
