If want a giggle look at this advert for muller corner! It snapped my attention straight away with the opening comment being "Meet Mary", with the visual of a cow stood on a wet beach. The narration is in the style and tone of an animal documentary and along with the panoramic cinematography used it creates a serious and factual illusion, until the following line states that - "She's always dreamt of being a horse!" After that point i did kinda stop listening due to laughter but well worth the watch for the minute its on.

progress - unit 9 the music track!
so, from the start: Adam sent me a couple of tracks one i just loved the sound of and chosen for my project. (song) - "I know it's been a while"
The track wasn't complete so i suggested having female vocals as well, and then offered to write some lyrics. A week later i sang (badly) the words to the song and he loved them. He then decided to strip his chorus and have two different female verses in place of the chorus. (below)
chorus one.
I know its been a while
you took a step then you ran a mile,
you left me, did you forget me?
Now can you prove your words,
or is this fake,
a second chance or a big mistake,
you hurt me, do you deserve me
do you deserve me.
chorus two.
I know its been a while
I want to cry between my smiles,
you hurt me, do you deserve me,
you disappeared now i'm here alone,
looking for you don't know where you gone,
you hurt me, do you deserve me
do you deserve me.
I then went on a search for a singer and straight away stumbled across a neighbour who sings part time with a voice that matched perfectly. this was louise aka Sapphire.
From there, with various meetings for production and many changes with instruments we finally got the finished version.
Heres the sound-cloud link
background- unit 9 self directed brief- Music video!
Right, so basically I have a friend who is within a small network of homemade talent, including adam (friend) the performer and lyricist, the music producer and a couple of part time musicians. Adam had a previous album and video within a different network a few years ago, and during this time, adam shown me his album and video then this was how we got on the subject of what i was studying. This lead to him asking me to create a music video for him last year (2009).
I obviously jumped at the chance and discussed wether there was some way I could incorporate it into the course... hence this now being the subject for my self directed final unit!

long awaited blogg
I have been stressed as anything and really forgetful, the last blog i posted was about my last brief the competition brief. I chose 'the body shop' advertising brief, was stressed for ages, had many changes of ideas and then just threw something together because of the deadline. I wasn't very pleased with it and as I figured was unsuccessful in the competition.
I have however bin doing quite well with the self directed brief and i passed my theory test last week... so i've not bin completely motionless!! x

competition brief!
All systems go at this point! I started by re-reading the brief to get a better understanding of what was requested. The brief stated to create an unconventional advertising campaign, with a maverick, cheeky and original tone of voice to reinstate the body shops pioneering with ethical beauty.
I am going to approach this with a great deal of research, this is because it will help me understand the company fully and what they want, and also research is an area I stated needed improving in my unit 7 reflective statement. Firstly I will be looking into the background of the company and its founders, then into the advertising history and competitors, this will then be followed by unconventional and guerilla advertising research, in order to get a better understanding of whats expected.
One of the primary sources of research organised, was interview the managers of the body shop and their main competitors lush, both of which were very helpful toward my research.
During the next week I will be getting my sketchbook up to date with my research and idea generating and developing.
Below are some of the images i found while researching past the body shop advertisements.

The new brief!
I've finally handed in room 101 animation in on friday, and emailed unit 8 essay to the tutor on thursday, so new week, new project! Im going to be reading through the competition briefs over the weekend, making a decision on monday and starting the research and idea development from there. I've had a quick read through and the 'D&AD' brief seem to be the most appealing.
Reviews are another thing I need to be getting through!
I am also going to try n upload my animation to the blog, if i can work out how to do it :)
